Informal Meeting of Energy Ministers
EU energy ministers meet informaly in Are on 23-24 July. Held back-to-back with the informal environment ministers' meeting, the focus is on coordinating policy agendas on climate change, energy-efficiency, innovation and competitiveness.

The Swedish Presidency aims to reach political agreement on three main co-decision proposals, namely, the proposed Directive on the energy performance of buildings (2008/0223(COD), the proposed Directive on energy labelling energy related products (2008/0222(COD) and the proposed Directive on labelling of tyres with respect to fuel efficiency and other essential parameters (2008/0221(COD). Also on the agenda for the December Energy Council are a policy debate on the Commission's Communication on Energy Policy for Europe - Action Plan 2010-2014, a progress report on the forthcoming co-decision Regulation on the security of gas supply, a progress report on the co-decision Regulation revising Council Regulation (EC) 736/96 on notification of projects of common interest to the Community in the petroleum, natural gas and electricity sector as well as an update on international relations in the field of energy.
