An unidentified young man in Pascagoula, Mississippi, defended his mother on April 24 when the mother woke up just after midnight to discover an intruder breaking into her home through her bedroom window.

When the mother saw the man at her window, she quietly went to her son's bedroom to seek his help. The local Sun Herald reported that the son, identified only by the nickname his mother had given him, "Snigg," told reporters that he got up and retrieved his gun. He then went to his mother's room. He heard the window go up and saw a man coming in.

"He (the thief) stuck his hand under and pulled the blinds back, the blinds and the curtain," Snigg said. "And he eased in like he was attempting to come in. I fired two shots, then he ...
