The perpetrators of a rash of carjackings that have taken place in the Tampa, Florida area have concerned Tampa police. Police spokeswoman Laura McElroy told reporters for ABC's WFS TV, "They appear to be very determined because if they're not successful getting one vehicle, they'll try another victim just moments later."
One carjacker with a gun approached a man at a gas station on May 11, demanding the victim's car keys. With the man's six-month-old son still in the car, the victim would not surrender the keys, and the carjacker fled. Moments later, however, the thief was successful in taking a van at gunpoint from a woman as she left work. That vehicle was later abandoned.
But it is likely only a matter of time before a citizen with a gun puts a permanent end to these ...
