I agree with you folks on, let's say, 95 percent of your positions, but the one you take on global warming (human-cause global warming) just makes you look foolish. The scientific evidence for AGW is overwhelming. I'm certain that intelligent folks who deny that evidence are motivated by purely economic factors (and nearsighted selfishness, since the worst effects won't be felt within their lifetimes).
The far more honest position (and the one I take) is that, while we are slowly but surely damaging our planet, it is not economically or politically feasible to try to do a great deal about it. It would be a ruinously expensive and empty gesture for the United States to make major sacrifices in a futile attempt to curb AGW when it is certain that developing countries will thwart our efforts. Environmental damage is an inevitable part of inevitable technological progress, and while we must surely make the effort to avoid the most lethal results, in general our only realistic choices are to adapt or die. Any other position is stupid and/or hypocritical. You are clearly intelligent people, and I'm confident that in your (collective) heart of hearts you ...
