Persystent To Keep USPS PCs Afloat.

Persystent Technologies, which claims to have the world's fastest automated PC recovery product, has gotten a contract from the USPS. Terms were not disclosed.

Persystent Suite, which says it can restore corrupted, changed or missing operating system and application files in less than 30 seconds, will be used to protect and enforce desktop policies on approximately 150,000 PC workstations for the USPS nationwide.

The widgetry is supposed to ensure that PCs are always work-ready by identifying and resolving system problems every time the computer is started. The company says the software - unlike other recovery products - will resolve problems whether the PC is on or off the network, even if the operating system is corrupted or can't start.

With more than 32,000 post offices, USPS has to manage thousands of remote PC ...
