Transport Secretary Lord Adonis announced this morning that the Scotland-Leeds-London route was being nationalised.He said a publicly-owned company had been set up to take over the East Coast line, currently run by private operator National Express.It has been struggling to cope with the terms of its eight-year, AGBP1.4bn franchise deal since passenger growth was stalled by the recession.Lord Adonis said: "I am simply not prepared to bail out companies that are unable to fulfil their commitments."However, National Express's new chief operating officer, Ray O'Toole, insisted the firm COULD keep hold of the …
