On 9 Jun 2009 the European Commission adopted a Regulation establishing maximum residue limits for tiludronic acid (in the form of disodium salt) in poultry, valid throughout the European Union. These maximum residue limits were based on the favourable opinion and the assessment report adopted by the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use. Tiludronic acid is intended for use in poultry for the improvement of the egg shell quality by subcutaneous injection. Tiludronic acid had maximum residue limits already established for equidae.
