Recent studies have found that the antioxidant Pycnogenol, a proprietary extract of French maritime pine bark, offers benefits for people suffering from osteoarthritis in the knee and for travelers who experience jet lag. During the past 35 years, more than 200 articles about this supplement have been published in scientific journals. Osteoarthritis occurs when there is a breakdown of cartilage that provides cushioning between the bones that make up joints. Inflammation and free radicals are by-products of that process and are responsible for much of the associated pain.
