Stray violence marks civic polls.

KOLKATA, 28 JUNE: Barring a few incidents of violence and booth capturing, municipal polls in the 16 civic bodies across the state passed off peacefully today amid tight security arrangements.

State Election Commissioner Ms Mira Pandey said around 75 per cent polling was recorded. She added that repolling was likely to be ordered in two booths at Matigara in Siliguri and one booth of Ward number 5 of Mahestala Municipality.

Major violence occurred in two booths in Mahestala municipality where the CPI-M and the Trinamul Congress cadres hurled bombs around 12 noon trading allegation of electoral malpractice against each other. …
