Gill Jones is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Keele University. Now semi-retired, she continues her active interest in the social theories and debates about youth. Her latest book, simply titled Youth, draws on a long career. She examines the origins of youth studies and its debates: youth as action, as identity, and as transition, and the issue of youth and dependence. The final chapter turns to youth in society, where Jones asks youth researchers to re-examine all their conceptual frameworks, and to go back and look at what they have rejected in the past.
