WASHINGTON -- Medicare's program to use competitive bidding to purchase prescription drugs under Part B coverage has raised a few eyebrows at a meeting of the Practicing Physicians Advisory Council.
"In rural areas like New Mexico, it's going to be hard to get the 'competitive' into 'competitive bidding,'" said council member Dr. Barbara McAneny, an Albuquerque oncologist. "We may end up with just one vendor" who might decide to fix prices.
