When was the last time you took a good, hard look at your managed care contracts?
If you haven't done it recently, you may be shocked to find that you have, for no apparent reason, been staying with a doddering old plan whose fee schedule is a joke, and whose few patients are generating negligible remuneration for your practice--when long ago you could have replaced it with a young, aggressive, well-paying organization.
As with most things, you'll never know unless you look. This is the sort of disagreeable task most physicians plan to do when some "free time" is available--which is, of course, never. But as you'll see, the effort is well worth it.
Make an appointment, just as you would for any other important meeting, with your office manager and your insurance specialist. Put the phones on service, ask someone else to cover emergencies, and otherwise...
