BUDAPEST, HUNGARY -- After many years of use in Germany, fumaric acid esters are now emerging onto the broader international dermatologic stage as a potential systemic therapy for severe psoriasis.
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled phase II study conducted at four centers in Poland, statistically significant, rapid improvements were seen in Psoriasis Area and Severity index (PASI) scores in a group of 144 patients with the chronic plaque, exanthematic guttate, erythrodermic, palmoplantar, or pustular types of psoriasis, Dr. A.
