ROCKVILLE, MD. -- Current labels on over-the-counter medications for tinea pedis, or "athlete's foot," may contain misleading information about their efficacy and should be revised, according to members of the Food and Drug Administration's Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee and Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee, who participated in a joint meeting.
Tinea pedis is "not a high-profile disease," but it affects millions of people per year, said Dr. Charles Ganley, director of the division of over-the-counter drug products in the FDKs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research in Rockville.
