PHOENIX, ARIZ. -- With federal regulators and lawmakers potentially poised to lay down new restrictions on the use of isotretinoin, the powerful acne drug's future use by some dermatologists is in question, Dr. John Strauss said at a clinical dermatology conference sponsored by Medicis.

The time and effort needed to ensure that proper procedures are followed with isotretinoin prescriptions would likely be more than most practices could handle, predicted Dr. Strauss, professor emeritus in the department of dermatology at the University of Iowa, Iowa City
