The opposition has been holding demonstrations in the streets of Tbilisi for the last two months against Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili, who is being held responsible for the country's lack of democracy, its stagnating economy and its diplomatic problems. The war lost against Russia last August and the independence of the two Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia are not the only reasons for discontent. The opposition, which is limited to the nation's capital, is represented by around 15 parties and movements, but it is having a hard time making its voice heard in the rest of the country because the media are generally government controlled.
