Amanda Brooks took to the recessionary shift to intimate parties when she hosted a small dinner for Bruno Frisoni, the creative director of Roger Vivier, who came to New York from Paris to show his warm-weather wares for the French label. The big new look: slingback espadrille wedges in silk jacquard (at a most reasonable $395) with signature square metal buckle. Customers were buying them at the cocktail party held at the Upper East Side boutique before heading next door to La Goulue, where Brooks had invited Yvonne Force Villareal, Patrick Robinson, Jenna Lyons, and Lisa Airan (in a brocade Marc Jacobs top) to dine on haricot vert salad, roasted chicken or steak tartare, and rose buttercream macaroons with a raspberry center for dessert. The hostess paired an old pink camisole from her closet with a new black skirt, both by Thakoon, and wore pink stilettos embroidered in black jet with thorn-shaped heelsa gift from the guest of honor.
