The controversy over President Obama delivering the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame IN has brought out Catholic schools' vetting processes for speakers.

Candidates must meet specific criteria in order to deliver a commencement address or receive an honorary degree,

Women in Higher Education (www.wihe.com)/June 2009 according to interviews done by the Catholic News Service. "[Obama] probably wouldn't make it though the vetting process we have for selecting a commencement speaker," said Dr. Rosealie Mirenda, president of Neumann University PA, a Catholic school.
