Manzoor Ishani turns left instead of right out of his driveway these days, heading for his new life as franchise development director of Stagecoach Theatre Arts plc He travels to Walton-on-Thames instead of Esher, but otherwise he keeps the same hours, suffers the same pressures, and fights the good fight as he has done throughout his career. Only the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith in which he commutes betrays the fact that he used to be a lawyer.
To be fair, the Silver Wraith is the only highly visible luxury (apart from his tailoring!) in a career dedicated to educating his children over a period of 15 years. Manzoor Ishani forsook the legal profession for the world of commerce just six months ago, after 25 years in which he built a sterling silver reputation as an international franchise lawyer, and his experiences on the other side of the fence are edifying for colleagues both former and new.
Manzoor's wife Marilyn and the other members of his family will attest to the fact that the new Manzoor is more relaxed and at ease with the world than the legal article. Manzoor himself recognises that life at Stagecoach is more congenial on several levels than with his former legal firm, and makes acute observations on the difference between pressure and stress.
