Reports this week suggested that National Australia Bank would commit itself to its UK operations and that was confirmed by chief executive, Cameron Clyne.In doing so, the bank moved to quash speculation that it could be looking to sell its British banks - the Yorkshire and its Scottish-based sister, the Clydesdale - amid investor unhappiness about lower returns from the businesses, despite the fact that they have weathered the UK recession better than other financial institutions.NAB maintained its UK business was sound.Mr Clyne said: "It is absolutely not in the interest of shareholders to exit our UK position."We …
