Microlatin is a collection of 20 original piano pieces for beginners written by Christopher Norton. The edition is very good since all the articulation, agogic and dynamic markings are very clear. It would be very illustrating for teachers if the book included at least some biographical notes about the composer and a statement of his goals for the students when performing this collection.
The CD included contains two versions of each piece, one with the orchestral accompaniment only and the other one with the piano playing by the composer. The balance between the piano playing and the accompaniment is not good, since the piano is heard very softly throughout, whereas the accompaniment sounds "annoying."
Even though the book cover states the pieces are based on Latin rhythms, there is neither a description in the entire book about the characteristics, nor the name of such rhythms. In addition, the titles of ...
