If you were to find a large amount of cash, you might assume it were funny money or crime related; and if you carne across, say, a cashier's check or money order for an exorbitant amount, you may be hesitant to take it to a bank to cash it for fear of raising suspicion. Even if you weren't scrupulously honest, situations like these may prompt you to turn in your booty rather than keeping it.
But a smaller amount of cash, that likely may not be reported as missing or raise eyebrows when you spend or deposit it, may provide a little more temptation to just hold on to it. After all, who would ever know?
