Czech Republic: Automotive industry has over 127,000 employees at the member firms of the Association of the Automotive Industry (AAI). Automotive firms dismissed roughly 18,000 persons from Jun 2008 till Feb 2009. In Apr 2009 they started to employ people again. The reason is the implementation of scrap subsidies in Germany. The proceeds of AAI's firms decreased by 5.73% in 2008 compared to 2007. Thanks to the scrap subsidies, Czech automotive firms expect further growth in 2009.
