Byline: Jeffrey Slonim PHOTOGRAPHED BY PATRICK McMULLAN
An actor can cry or laugh on command, but can she or he feign calm when her double-sided tape comes unglued or his suit doesn't fit? We asked stars at the SAG Awards, a Museum of the Moving Image benefit, and the opening of New York City's Armani flagship store whether they've ever had a major fashion crisis.
Quick thinking saved Anne Hathaway. "This dress was a little plunge-y, and I forgot to pack tape," she said, "so I had to clasp it with my grandmother's brooch." Photographer Poppy de Villeneuve couldn't do much about a pair of pink "knickers" that were visible in pictures. "I thought they didn't show through my dress," she said. "But they did with the flash." And Jack Black nearly made a faux pas and underdressed. "I only found out yesterday that this thing was black-tie," he said. "So I went over to Bergdorf Goodman, and I said, 'Show me your finest tux.' And the lady was like, 'I'm sorry, your neck. It's too big for this store. You might want to go to Big and Tall.' And at the Big and Tall, I was welcomed with loving, open arms."

Tonight's been finenobody's ripped the train yet. It would be great to save the drama for the movies, but it is hard sometimes.
