IT minister stresses on computer literacy in rural areas.

KOLKATA,11 JUNE: Like urban areas, computer literacy programmes in rural areas of the state are equally important for proper implementation of e-governance projects, said the state IT minister, Mr DebeshDas.

He was speaking at a seminar on "e-governanceand digital West Bengal", organised by InfoSecurity,a magazine on IT security in collaboration with InfoStore,another IT magazine and the state IT department this morning.

Mr Dassaid many projects including State Wide Area Network (Swan) had been undertaken to connect the state headquarters with district headquarters, blocks and sub-divisions. Swan would help to exchange data among different government departments …
