Many of us travel, and most of us do so by airplane. At one time I was making about 45 trips a year, and seemed to always be on my way to the airport. The following experience took place during a trip from Atlanta to Greenville, SC.

I had finished my business and went back to the airport and checked in. At the prescribed time I boarded the plane and took my seat. As many frequent travelers have seen, there are times when someone walks up to you and says, "I think we both have the same seat." Invariably the flight attendant does his or her job and asks for both boarding passes, then leaves and goes to the gate to check. In my experience, I had seen this play out many times and was very confident I would be staying put.

A few minutes later, the flight attendant returned and reasonably quietly said to me, "Mr. Berlin, would you please gather your things and come with me?" Of course I did the appropriate thing--I made a fool out of myself! I said rather loudly, "What? I have seen this many times and the ...
