While government continues to grow by leaps and bounds, the private sector is being squeezed. Much-needed capital for investments is being spent on government projects while businesses and individuals are starved for credit. Government is hiring--either directly, or indirectly through government-backed "stimulus" projects--while on the whole companies across the nation shed jobs. The people are being taxed more heavily to support this growth, either directly or through inflation to finance government borrowing, and until there's a policy change, it's only going to get worse.
