The M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon can be carried and fired by one Soldier or mounted on a vehicle. It weighs 16.5 pounds and fires 5.56 mm rounds at a rate of up to 750 per minute, effective to 800 meters.

The M-4, a compact version of the M-16A2 rifle, enables Soldiers to shoot effectively in close quarters, as well as up to 500 meters. The carbine uses 5.56 mm ammunition and weighs 7.5 pounds with sling and loaded magazine.
