Last year I featured a number of items relating to the two stations that were situated on Humberstone Road and Uppingham Road, Leicester.
One served the Midland Railway from London Road Station. This is now reconstructed at southern terminus of the Battlefield Line near the village of Shenton. The other station served the Great Northern Line from Belgrave Road station and was used in latter days to take thousands of Leicester families to the East Coast for holidays.
Mr Peter Spenlove-Spenlove, who contributed to the initial items, has written with some more "down to earth" information about these holiday trains.
