TOKYO, June 8 Asia Pulse - Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (TSE:9432) ought to split its fixed-line telecommunications operations into facilities and services divisions, KDDI Corp. (TSE:9433) President Tadashi Onodera told The Nikkei in an interview Friday.
Discussions on the next stage of reorganization for NTT, the former state-run telecommunications monopoly, are to kick off in 2010. Onodera said he intends to propose the separation of the operations as a topic.
"It is necessary to separate the facilities division," he said.
