KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 Asia Pulse - Malaysia and Oman on Friday signed a trade Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of small and medium industries.
Datu Mohammed al Amin Haj Abdulmajid, Chairman of the Malaysian Small and Medium Industries Development Authority, said the Sultanate ranked 33 as Malaysia's trade partner.
The volume of trade between the two countries stood at US$1.1 billion last year. Malaysian exports to the Sultanate amounted to US$230 million while the Malaysian imports from the Sultanate amounted to US$866 million, a 78 per cent increase, compared to 2007, he said.
Malaysian exports to the Sultanate include palm tree oil, equipment, machineries, electric and electronic devices, and chemical materials. Oil and derivatives imports from the Sultanate stood at 95 per cent of Malaysia's total imports from the Sultanate.
