Short Story:Anusree Ganguly Suresh jumped up from the sofa, hissing furiously that she was to remain in her room. Madhuri exploded in virulent temper.
'Why? Am I a child that I should be so punished for my misdeeds?' SURESH would never forget that face. She had changed a lot in the last 15 years, but he couldn't possibly mistake Madhuri' Madhu. The lady at the pharmacy had finished her purchases and had started walking. Suresh followed her from close behind. Her steps were faltering and uncertain and she had her one palm shading her eyes from the dazzling sun. Suresh suddenly felt angry. He started walking fast and then when he was almost close to her, called her, 'Madhu'. Madhuri looked at him like a frightened deer, the tired, deeply etched lines on her parched face suddenly contracted. His unsmiling face scared her; she sensed trouble. His intent, faded eyes with their whitened eyelashes were looking at her in crazed amusement, as if he was finding her old age something very funny.
