A RECORDING studio for music stars of the future has opened in north Durham.

The Red Town Recording Studio is a professional facility for musicians based in the main building of Consett YMCA, in Parliament Street.

The studio has a spacious performance live room and a control room with music industry standard equipment.

It has been created with GBP60,000 of funding from Derwentside District Council.

Councillor leader Councillor Alex Watson gave GBP20,000 from his allowance for projects in his ward along with fellow councillors Owen Temple and Mary Westgarth.
