SEOUL, April 1 Asia Pulse - The National Assembly opened an extraordinary session on Wednesday with rival parties expected to once again lock horns over a government-proposed 28.9 trillion won (US$20.7 billion) supplementary budget bill.
The session is scheduled to last 30 days and follows an earlier one in February when rival parties clashed over disputed media industry deregulation bills.
Last week, the government endorsed the country's largest-ever extra budget aimed at creating jobs and reviving the economy, which is feared to slip into the first recession in more than a decade. South Korea's economy grew 2.2 per cent last year, but the government forecast a two per cent contraction for this year, with some 200,000 jobs to be cut from payrolls.
