ABU DHABI, April 1 Asia Pulse - Siemens Energy has handed over the Taweelah New B Extension combined cycle power station with seawater desalination plant to the customer Taweelah Asia Power Company (TAPCO) headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
The local Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has a 60-percent and Asia Gulf Power Holding Company Ltd. a 40-percent stake in TAPCO.
Siemens as consortium leader built the combined cycle plant as a turnkey project together with the partners Fisia Italimpianti and Babcock Borsig Services.
The plant, which came on line in October 2008, is capable of generating approximately 970 megawatts of eco-friendly electricity and produces over 300,000 cubic meters of drinking water daily.
