Pakistan has imported 1.4 million bales of cotton at the cost of Rs 20 billion from India, US and Brazil during the last eight months (August 2008-March 2009) Reliable sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that almost 1 lakh bales have been imported from India at the cost of Rs 1.5 billion.

According to the source, the country may have to import 2 million bales in addition to the 1.4 million bales. According to the recent cotton arrival report in the ginning factories as on March 15, the production of the crop across the country remained 11.30 million bales.
