A youth stole a gold bracelet from a woman lying on the ground after a mother of three had repeatedly punched and kicked her, a court heard.

The youth stole the jewellery, belonging to the woman's dead grandmother, following the attack by 36-year-old Lynda Mitchell.

Plymouth Magistrates' Court heard that Mitchell, of Thames Gardens in Efford, pulled victim Tina Rennie to the ground and she was then punched and kicked in a city park.

District judge Paul Farmer said that the youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was on the brink of a jail sentence.
