A New electricity substation is to be built on green-belt land to help meet the growing demand for power in Notts.

Central Networks (East) will build the substation on farmland off Stoke Lane in Stoke Bardolph.

Gedling Borough Council has granted planning permission, despite concerns from environmental groups about the impact on the green belt and wildlife.

The station will be located on a 42-acre site north of the Netherfield Lagoons local nature reserve.

Peter Baguley, head of planning and environment at the council, recommended approval.
