The fuller schedule at Christie's--Japanese and Korean works of art, Chinese jade and works of art, and Southeast Asian art, along with a couple of single-owner sales--will certainly excite collectors. The main event is sure to be the auction of more than 150 works of Chinese art from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections Trust, part of the large collection amassed over many decades by the renowned Sackler. The group includes everything from classical paintings, archaic jades, bronze vessels, Tang and Song ceramics, and Buddhist sculpture to Ming frescoes and classical furniture. One highlight is an exceptional Cizhou sgraffiato meiping vase with peonies of the Northern Song dynasty estimated to sell for $120,000 to $180,000. (The lots carry a total estimate of about $4 million.)
