KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resources Ministry is considering a 50 per cent reduction in contributions by employers to the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) in an effort to alleviate their burden due to the global economic slowdown, Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam said here yesterday. He said employers now contributed about RM400 million a year to the fund, which was set up to train and retrain workers. "All industries have to contribute their HRDF levy except for the electronic, electrical and textile industries, which have been exempted from contributing to the fund for six months from Feb 1.
