THERE is no doubt that the plight of Elizabeth Wong, who had her nude pictures circulated in the public, has found sympathy among Malaysians.

My hope is that the police will conclude their investigations soon, charge the perpetrators and subject them to the full force of the law. However, I was deeply disturbed to read the letter by Abigail de Vries ("We have hit a new low" - NST, Feb 19). It is understandable that de Vries is enraged to see a woman being publicly humiliated. But I strongly disagree with Abigail and other non-governmental organisations as well as political leaders who had given this issue a gender and political slant. …
