BANGKOK, March 2 Asia Pulse - Australia and New Zealand signed documents officially recognising Vietnam's market economy in Phetchaburi province, Thailand on February 27.
The documents were signed and handed over by Australia's Minister for Trade, Simon Crean and New Zealand's Trade Minister Tim Groser to Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 14th Summit.
The documents made it clear that the Government's of Australia and New Zealand now officially recognise Vietnam as a full market economy and would treat Vietnamese imports to their markets in the same way they treat imports from other World Trade Organisation members, in line with WTO regulations relating to anti-dumping and subsidies.
Their commitments are of primary importance regarding goods inspections and the determination of dumping taxes, which will act as a basis for making decisions on anti-dumping tariff rates.
