Last week, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton became the first US foreign minister -and the highest level US official -to visit the Asean Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Her visit to the headquarters of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, made on the occasion of her first trip overseas as secretary of state, marks a new era in US-Asean relations.
