SWISS qualifier Nicolas Mueller and Shelley Kitchen (pic) of New Zealand won the men's and women's titles of the NSC Series No 1 tournament in contrasting fashion at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

World No 116 Mueller was gifted his first PSA Tour title by fellow qualifier Abdullah Al Mezayen when the Kuwaiti retired with a hamstring injury while trailing 13-15, 11-5, 11-9, 5-0 after just 23 minutes on court.

Top seed Shelley, ranked 13th in the world, won her first Wispa Tour title in 13 months with a hard-earned 13-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9 win over second seed Annie Au in 59 minutes.
