I've done the makeup for Marc Jacobs's shows for eight years, and we always do something new. We've created wildly different makeup looksand most of them are still relevant today, even though they were intended for a particular season. I think these four are our greatest hits.

This was a Chrissie Hynde rock-and-roll look. I lined the inner rims with black pencil, smeared tons of black cream shadow on the lids, layered it with black powder shadow, and finished with gobs of mascara. The skin was natural, without a lot of color and powder. I used clear balm on the lips. This look is maximum intensity, but it's very easy to rein it in by using less shadow.
Marc and I were inspired by Natalie Wood, but we wanted to add a bad-girl element. I did a ticked line with black liquid liner (you can soften the look with brown liner) starting about a third of the way from the outer edge, and flung it up at a very sharp angle at the corner. I combed up the brows, layered on black mascara, and used pink on the lips and cheeks.
