IPTV, short for internet protocol television, is expected to gain significant momentum now that it offers real-time broadcasts, industry officials said. The internet-based TV is a powerful new medium threatening cable and satellite television, they said.
SK Broadband, the nation's number two fixed-line carrier, is taking the lead in introducing the new medium.
Starting from January, SK Broadband has offered live TV broadcasts via its IPTV service, called Broad & TV.
