The Port of Tacoma got the year off to a rocky start as container volume fell nearly 16 percent in January from the same month last year to 109,265 TEUs, the lowest total since 2002.
The deepening recession was reflected in the port's full international inbound and outbound box volumes, with each category down by double-digits for the month.
