A former State University of New York at Stony Brook post-doc who said her supervisor denied her maternity leave has settled her sex discrimination suit with the school.

After consulting university policies, Sherry Towers thought she could take three months off of work as a SUNY physics post-doc after the birth of her daughter in 2003. But her supervisor, associate physics professor John Hobbs, told her not to tell HR she was pregnant and not to expect a letter of recommendation from him unless she returned to work quickly after giving birth, according ...
