Many analysts see US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit to Indonesia as an attempt to renew relations with the Islamic world, especially Indonesia, which is strategically significant to counter terrorism efforts and finding a new approach to resolving conflict in the Middle East.

However Clinton's visit must be understood more broadly. First, one of the reasons behind her visit is the political reorientation which has taken place in East Asia and Southeast Asia. …
