Handbags have always had more star power than other accessoriesthey've been named after princesses (Grace Kelly) and actresses (Jane Birkin) and celebrated in lyrics. At times, the most stylish bags weren't remotely functional, but the best ones right now are roomy enough for essentials, though not so large that they double as luggage.
